Assistant Meat Manager
Ward’s Supermarket Inc. is a 4th generation owned grocery store in Gainesville, Florida. We are seeking an experienced retail grocery Meat Manager who is dependable, highly motivated, able to supervise and lead associates in a fast-paced environment.
Position Type: Full-Time
Average Hours: 50+ per week
Starting Wage: Will discuss at interview
This position responsibilities and duties will include the following:
- Track sales report and order products to meet customer requirements and increase profits.
- Minimize out-of-stock and overstock to ensure fresh merchandise.
- Execute localized merchandising plans and follow company plans to ensure meat department achieves profits.
- Receive and unload incoming shipments and price product to ensure product quality, protection and rotation in cases and cooler.
- Manage and track inventory records to estimate gross monthly profits as per company guidelines.
- Control department expenses by enhancing operations and meet budgeted goals.
- Responsible for weekly sales ad
- Schedule meat associates, engage in specialized skills training, delegate work to use talents and abilities to increase profits.
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards mandated by state, federal and OSHA regulations.
- Comply with state, local and government weight, measures and labeling.
- Ensure associates run equipment safely.
- Determine Meat Department areas for improvement and institute changes to address concerns.
- Manage department records on associate performance, discipline and sales plans.
- Handle staff duty like trimming and cutting
- Welcome and receive orders from customers
- Intermediate to Advanced skills in typing and computer software skills for ordering
Physical Demands:
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds
- Regularly to stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry and walk around for long periods of time
- Be able to handle back stock cooler and freezer temperatures for short periods at a time
- Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation
Education and Experience:
- High School Degree or General Education Degree (GED)
- Minimum of 5+ year’s butcher experience
- Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred
- Experience with Food Safety Handling
