Job Summary

Performs all duties that pertain to ground maintenance, gardening and operation of equipment necessary to maintain the University grounds, including snow removal.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for the health, care and appearance of a variety of trees, shrubs and lawns.
  2. Controls weeds with chemicals under the direction of a licensed sprayer applicator.
  3. Prepares plants and soil for seeding and transplanting.
  4. Performs snow removal duties.
  5. Operates heavy equipment such as: gang mower, tractors with attachments such as aerators, fertilizer spreaders, vacuum, salt truck and snow plows during winter months.
  6. Responsible for service and routine maintenance on grounds equipment.
  7. May be required to set up for outdoor events.
Problem Solving

All employees will be required to respond to snow removal call-ins (i.e. weekends, day or night or as scheduled for campus events.

Minimum Qualifications

Nine months professional work experience with the responsibility for five or more acres of grounds, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); a valid Utah vehicle operator's license required; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Selected applicant will be expected to obtain a pesticide applicator's license.
