Description
The PhD Program Director is the academic administrative officer responsible for the PhD in nursing program in the School of Nursing. The Program Director ensures that the standards and policies of the School of Graduate Studies, the University, and the School of Nursing (as applicable) are met in the PhD program, and further that the program achieves the highest standards for PhD education outlined by national bodies in nursing education (e.g., the American Association of Colleges of Nursing). The program director is responsible for facilitating the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the School of Nursing's PhD in nursing program. All graduate programs at the School of Nursing operate under the auspices of the Graduate Studies Committee (GSC) and the University of Texas at Austin Graduate School.
Responsibilities include:
o Assisting Student Services office with student recruitment
o Monitoring student progression
o Working with faculty regarding student issues
o Working with program faculty for curriculum improvements
o Mentoring new program faculty
o Evaluating program outcomes with in coordination with the School's evaluation specialist
o Ensuring program is meeting the pertinent standards and guidelines
o Coordinating among the faculty and courses to facilitate coverage of essential content, minimization of redundancies, and distribution of student workload
o Annual evaluation of program goals and achievements
