Maintenance Specialist II (Dining Services) - Facilities Services

MR04 – Starting at $16.75 depending on candidate’s qualifications and experience

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Zone Maintenance Food Service Specialists II are responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all campus facilities which includes: buildings, grounds, and utility systems. The Food Service Maintenance Specialist repairs and performs routine maintenance on all mechanical/electrical within the envelope of buildings and perimeter. This division maintains all buildings, lights, ceilings, doors, restrooms, HVAC equipment, etc. This position also requires specialized knowledge, training and skills to repair various types of food services equipment i.e. commercial ovens, stoves, dish machines, coolers, coffee/espresso makers, vent hoods etc. Must have the ability to use and care for basic diagnostic test equipment and adhere to all safety procedures and trainings as required by the university, department and regulatory agencies. The employee in this position will also be working special events at the University. Due to frequently being the first point of contact, Specialist II should have good communications skills to be able to effectively interact with all members of the Campus community including but not limited to: staff, faculty, administration, visitors, contractors, and vendors. Contributes to the overall success of Facilities Services by performing other essential duties (for example: snow removal) and responsibilities as assigned. Employee must keep work site and maintenance shop clean and safe. Check emails and work orders on a daily basis via computer.


Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school degree (or GED) required and 2 years’ experience, or the completion of a technical training program or an apprenticeship program in lieu of experience.
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License
  • Applicant must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Be able to work required shift
  • Applicant must be in good physical health and able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The applicant should have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, staff, and university personnel and work with others in a respectful, cooperative manner. Applicant should be reliable in attendance, clean and neat in appearance. Applicant should have the ability to climb a ladder and/or work on a lift, when height of task is over six (6) feet high, work in high places, noisy environments and flashing lights. Ability to utilize power tools, read electrical and electronic schematics, use and understand volt-ohm meters. Have knowledge of food service health and safety regulations.
