The Office of Housing at The University of Tennessee at Martin is accepting applications for a Locksmith Specialist. This position was established for the purposes of providing locksmith services with specific responsibilities for the repair, alteration, installation and keying of locks on buildings, equipment, and resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting other facility staff.
Responsibilities:
1. Install service and repair various types of locks and security devices.
2. Disassemble locks; repair and replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
3. Cut new or duplicate keys and stamp with identification by using software to code and design each key way. This includes designing specialized customized locks and keys.
4. Utilize key cutting machines, drills, saws, grinds, key gauges, and other locksmith equipment.
5. Install electronic card readers along with electronic triggers and strikes.
6. Maintain digital key-system database to ensure records are accurate.
7. Perform preventive lock maintenance.
8. Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
9. Position is on call 24/7 depending on security of locks.
10. Assist with overall maintenance and facilities upkeep.
11. Other duties as assigned


Qualifications :

Qualifications
Minimum:
• Typically requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Ability to cut and issue keys, re-key, install and repair locks and hardware.
• Skill to use general hand tools, grinders, and saws.
• Ability to interpret, implement, and maintain pre-defined master key systems.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Preferred:
• 2-4 years' experience in repairing and installing locks and door hardware
• Knowledge to cut and issue keys, re-key, install and repair locks and hardware.
• Knowledge to interpret, implement, and maintain pre-defined master key systems.
• Knowledge and skill to install, troubleshoot, and repair both mechanical locking and electronic access control devices.
• Skill in utilizing building security and lock systems and procedures.
