Description

This a position description for a lecturer in The University of Tennessee - Knoxville Haslam College of Business. This non-tenure track position resides in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

This position is for 9-months and renewable based on department need and faculty performance. The typical teaching load is seven (7) courses per academic year, depending on the type of course taught and service to the university, college, or department outside of the classroom. In addition, the position includes a service component. The search will remain open until the position is filled, with the earliest effective dates of employment being August 1, 2024. Compensation will be competitive.

Knoxville, nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, has a metropolitan statistical area population of over 850,000 people. This moderate-sized city has a vibrant nightlife that includes numerous theaters and museums, traditional bluegrass music, world-class restaurants, many cultural festivals, and a downtown market square to name a few examples. Surrounded by lakes and the Tennessee River, the Knoxville area boasts wonderful year-round water activities, including boating, fishing, and swimming that make for scenic and breathtaking views of the area. Knoxville is also home to many leading corporations, including Pilot Flying J, Denso, Clayton Homes, Ruby Tuesday, Bush Brothers & Company, Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc., Regal Cinemas, TVA, and Arconic.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications: A graduate degree (e.g., MBA) from an accredited institution with an emphasis in strategic management, general management, project management, or a related discipline. Experience teaching project management, strategic management, and/or technology commercialization at the college-level.

Desired Qualifications:

Ph.D. from an accredited institution with an emphasis in management, or a related discipline

Demonstrated record of high-quality and innovative teaching in project management, strategic management, and/or technology commercialization at the college level

Breadth of experience in teaching across undergraduate- and graduate-levels

Demonstrated success in contributing to a collegial classroom and work environment

Work experience relevant to project management, strategic management, technology commercialization, or related discipline and industry contacts

Experience using cases and simulations in the classroom

Demonstrated focus on experiential learning activities in the classroom

Experience developing and teaching online courses

Demonstrated passion and excellence for working with students and helping them achieve their personal and professional goals

Proven commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
