Position Summary

Responsible for assisting in the daily IT support of the UT Police Department.

Position Qualifications

· Minimum- High School Diploma, 21 years of age

· Preferred - Associate’s degree

Position Description

Technical:

· Assist in support of IT security standards, evaluation and deployment including VPNs, IPSec tunneling, and data encryption.

· Evaluate IT systems ability to operate for incident response including redundancy and resiliency for UT Police systems and access for external services necessary.

· Assist in support of in-car computer systems and their network topology for police vehicles meeting Federal law enforcement and University security standards.

· As needed, assists end users of campus-wide video surveillance system in locating and capturing video taken that depicts criminal or other important events.

· Maintain a working knowledge of UTPD confidential data and the security of the data in storage, network topology, physical access, and procedures to prevent non-authorized access.

· Assist in issuing and maintaining agency mobile devices with attention to meeting Federal law enforcement and University security standards.



Administrative:

· Assist in inventory and cataloging of all IT equipment within the police department and necessary registrations for function.

· Assist with administration and maintenance on multiple large IT systems including in-house servers, Microsoft Active Directory, cloud-based systems, and SQL databases.

Hours

Standard administrative hours, typically 8 am – 5 pm.

Process

Candidates should complete an online application with the UT Office of Human Resources. A committee will review applications and conduct interviews for the position. Committee recommendations will be forwarded to the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police may conduct final interviews. The Chief of Police or designee will select the applicant for this position.
