The position is for the recruitment for Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and at the Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor level in the Tenure, Tenure stream or Non-Tenure track at the University of Pittsburgh. The successful candidate will practice as a pediatric neurosurgeon in a dual capacity within UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery to include clinical, research, and teaching responsibilities. The overall function of the Chief of Pediatric Neurological Surgery is to coordinate the delivery of specialty care to all patients as needed and to administer the Division of Pediatric Neurological Surgery in the Department of Neurological Surgery in compliance with standards and regulations set forth by JCAHO and other regulatory agencies (i.e., Department of Health, OSHA, CMS (formerly HCFA).

This academic appointment will be at the Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor level, in the Tenure, Tenure stream, or Non-Tenure track level, commensurate with the applicant’s background and academic productivity. Salary is competitive and commensurate with training and experience. General rank requirements: An assistant professor (0-5 years of experience) should have demonstrated teaching ability, experience in advanced study and research, or professional experience of a kind that would enable them to make an academic contribution. An associate professor (6-9 years of experience) will have a strong experience with an impactful scholarship, a local, regional, and developing national reputation, effectiveness as a teacher, and service. Professor level, tenure-stream, will have served five to seven years as Associate Professor. The rank of professor recognizes the attainment of authoritative knowledge and reputation in a recognized field of learning and the achievement of effective teaching skills. The professor should have attained superior stature in their field through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learned organizations. Academic rank is commensurate with prior academic achievements and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Board-eligible or certified in Neurosurgery.
  • MD
  • Licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Demonstrated excellent clinic outcomes.
  • Success in authoring papers published in refereed journals.
  • Success in securing federal funding from the National Institutes of Health and/or other government agencies.
