Job Description
  • Coordinates support functions for the Touhill Performing Arts Center to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the Staging and Rigging Department are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications.
  • Meet with clients on assigned events, knowledgeably answer questions, advise clients regarding capabilities and associated costs, and make recommendations for event success specifically on behalf of the Staging and Rigging Services Department yet speaking competently regarding other departments.
  • Advance booked events either partially or entirely, either working alongside the Production Services Manager and/or other Department Managers as an Advance Team for complicated endeavors or working individually on less-complex events.
  • Help gather complete event information; translate particulars into understandable instructions for the staff; update event notes and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with developing an event plan; ensure that events are properly detailed for PAC staff to complete a successful event; assist with staffing and budget recommendations.
  • Based on the event advance and subsequent plan, prepare Rigging and Staging Services Department equipment and systems to support event use.
  • Ensure Rigging and Staging Services Department equipment and systems are functioning optimally: this involves scheduled, preventative, and emergency maintenance and repair; ensure all finished work adheres to quality, functionality, and equipment warranties and safety.
  • Develop and oversee department work assignments.
    Operate live equipment and/or supervise crew members assigned to the Rigging and Staging Services Department; uphold safety and the highest possible quality of services.
  • Perform other duties as priorities and work schedules require, including work in other disciplines within Production Services. May function as building manager (Duty Staff or Call Chief) during work, or on events.
  • Catalog and maintain relevant documentation and specifications, as well as PAC-specific digital libraries and files; organize and preserve equipment and storage areas.
  • Assist in department and event budgeting, assist with purchasing of department equipment and supplies.
  • Supervise, guide, and train part-time and student crew members toward success specifically within the Rigging and Staging Services Department.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced skill in theatrical staging work, theatrical carpentry, decking systems, and orchestral equipment.
  • Experience working with a variety of fly systems, including counterweight, hemp, single purchase, double purchase, etc.
  • Practical rigging experience. Practical experience with motors, motor controllers, etc.
  • Basic experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe products.
  • Excellent communication skills, working with broad levels of experience and expertise from the novice user and/or student to professional productions.
  • The ability to work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends, is essential.
  • Successful candidate, as a working supervisor, will be expected to perform all typical crew member duties including working at heights on lifts and ladders, lifting and pulling heavy objects and other strenuous activities...
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $24.50/hour - $27.00 hourly
