Job Description Summary:
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking an academically oriented full-time faculty for the Division of Anatomic Pathology.

The department is experiencing rapid growth and has established a sub specialization practice model, performing over 5 million tests and accessioning over 46,000 surgical pathology cases annually with a large case variety. A robust multidisciplinary breast treatment team is active in our system. The Department and The University of Kansas Health System are an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, which provides rich opportunities for clinical and translational research, both within the Department and within the Medical Center.

This is a full-time appointment with preference for candidates that qualify for the Assistant, Associate, or full Professorial rank on either the tenured or non-tenure clinical track.

Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.

The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education/Certification/Licensure:
  • MD or MD/PhD or DO degree
  • Board certification or eligible in AP or AP/CP.
  • Eligible for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Kansas is required.


Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:
  • Fellowship training in Breast and/or GYN preferred.
  • Additional expertise in another subspecialty such as gynecologic pathology.


Job Duties Outlined
  • Participation in diagnostic sign out of 2-3 subspecialty areas.
  • Participation in general surgical pathology frozen section service.
  • Contribute to medical student, resident and fellow training.
  • Develop research projects reflective of his/her/their own interests.
