ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST II

Seeking an ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST II
Description: Under the Supervision of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Secretary of Interior
Affairs and the Office of Environmental Services Director and Senior Departmental Staff, the Environmental Specialist II (ESII) will work in the development of the tribe's Climate Pollution Reduction Program including, but not limited to: data collection and dissemination; community / educational outreach programs including stakeholder engagement; work with selected contractors in the development of Climate Action Plans; and other related duties as assigned by MCN OES senior staff or the director. The ESII will also provide technical and administrative support to the Director and Senior Staff on various departmental programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be able to read & locate legal descriptions and plat sites using tribal, state, county, city, USGS topo, and FEMA flood maps. 2. Inspection of sites, facilities, locations and areas to determine extent of greenhouse gas emissions and the potential for instituting measures to achieve and quantify their reduction. 3. Prepare and submit reports related to the tribe's Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program. 4. Ability to work with MCN staff, professional engineers, scientists, government agencies, and other tribes / tribal consortia in the development of greenhouse gas reduction measures on and for the MCN Reservation 5. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written format. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office and regulatory databases. 6. Perform routine daily inspections and maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment. 7. Perform other duties as required, other duties may include assignments not in job classification.
- Associates Degree from a two-year college or university and a minimum of 1 year of related work experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science related field and 1 to 3 years of work with the USEPA, ODEQ, or other related governmental/Tribal agency
