Job Purpose
Tennessee Tech's College of Arts & Sciences is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for a 9-month contract as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology in Molecular Microbiology. The anticipated start date for this position will be August 2022.
The Department of Biology offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Wildlife and Fisheries Science and a Master of Science degree in Biology. A Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Biology is offered through the School of Interdisciplinary Studies. Essential Functions
Seeking a molecular microbiologist capable of teaching microbiology to health science students, as well as upper division and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Other essential functions include developing an externally funded research program, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and directing thesis research of M.S. and/or PhD level graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in an area applicable to molecular microbiology, ability to teach microbiology to health science students and advanced courses in molecular or cell biology, potential to develop a funded research program, and potential to serve as advisor to undergraduate and graduate students. Applicant must be authorized to work in the United States without the University’s sponsorship. Must have the ability to teach online as well as other delivery methods if needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous university-level teaching experience and demonstrated record of publications and successful grantsmanship. Research specialty is open and should complement those of current faculty. The candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in STEM.

Work Hours:

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 2022.
