The Department of Computer Science at Southeast Missouri State University invites applications for an Open Rank Visiting Professor position to start August 1, 2024. This multi-year engagement is aimed at enriching our academic community through a diverse array of teaching methodologies and research interests in the fields of Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Computer Information Systems.
Position Details
- Rank: Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, Visiting Assistant Professor, or Visiting Instructor, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications.
- Duration: The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension for an additional year contingent upon a favorable review of the candidate's teaching performance in the first year along with instructional needs of the department and University.
- Teaching Load:The successful candidate will be expected to teach an average of 12-15 credit hours per semester depending on rank. Teaching responsibilities will span across our undergraduate and graduate programs including:
- BS in Computer Science
- BS in Cybersecurity
- BS in Computer Information Systems
- MS in Applied Computer Science
- MS in Cybersecurity
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, STEM or a closely related discipline is required, though candidates with a Master's degree who possess significant teaching and professional experience in the relevant fields will also be considered. (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government-certified university).
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively within and across the aforementioned programs
- Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in Information Systems, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and the potential to contribute to the department's research profile
- Evidence of effective communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal
- Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
