DESCRIPTION
The Machinist operates a wide variety of machining equipment with varying day-to-day work assignments at the Phillips 66 Borger Refinery located in Borger, Texas. The starting rate of pay for a Machinist is $32.89 with the ability to reach top craft pay within 36 months which is currently $44.84.
This position requires successful completion of aptitude, behavioral and skills testing and an on-site interview. Candidates who receive an offer of employment will then be required to successfully complete a pre-employment due diligence process that consists of things like a background check, medical, hearing, respiratory and vision exams and agility testing.

Responsibilities May Include
Operating lathes, drill presses, vices, and milling equipment
Operating pressure relief valve testing equipment
Valve repairs including gate, plug, orbit, globe, check, and pressure relief valves
Using precision measuring devices and reading blueprints
Performing work activities that include pulling, lifting, twisting, working in confined spaces, and on elevated platforms requiring fall protection
Entering and retrieving computer data as well as data analysis
Using fire equipment when necessary along when many other general maintenance activities
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Basic/Required:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a valid driver's license
Willingness to perform/comply with the following:
To work at least an 8-hour rotating shift and up to a 12-hour rotating shift, which includes some weekends and holidays
To work overtime
To work in enclosed spaces, such as tanks and silos
To work near large, hot, high-speed machines
To climb up to 250 feet in height
To lift a minimum of 50 pounds
To work around chemicals, including acids and bases
To wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection)
To maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
To perform firefighting duties
To work outside in harsh weather conditions
To work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and high temperatures
To read technical procedures and materials in English
To learn computer software associated with process operations
Preferred:
Machinist certification or higher or 2 years or more of machinist work experience strongly preferred
Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited school
2 years or more of Military experience that is metal working related
2 years or more of experience working in a refinery, chemical, power, nuclear, wastewater treatment, or pharmaceutical industry
2 years or more of recent, continuous, full-time work experience
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Strong oral/written communication skills and the ability to interact and work in a team environment
The Borger Refinery is located in Borger, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle, approximately 50 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units, as well as an NGL fractionation facility. The refinery processes primarily medium sour crude oil produced locally, and heavy sour crude oil produced in Canada, all of which are delivered by pipeline. Borger produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petroleum coke, NGLs and solvents. Refined products are distributed to customers via pipelines from the refinery to West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and the Midcontinent region.
