Job Description
Using state vehicle, perform regularly scheduled pick-ups of recyclable, recoverable or reusable material from campus buildings/areas by transporting materials to a designated recycling container or center. Purchase small parts and supplies as directed. Perform assigned tasks independently. Make minor repairs as needed. Relocate furniture, files, equipment, supplies and other assorted items on and off campus. During the moving process, provide services such as putting together desks, file cabinets, credenzas, etc. Participate in set up, breakdown and cleanup for special events. Supervise the work of temp and junior workers to the departmental standards.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Working knowledge of recyclable, recoverable and reusable materials. Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions. Demonstrated ability to operate large and small equipment, including but not limited to hand tools, cardboard baler, hand trucks, van size trucks and large dump trucks. Demonstrated ability to work in extreme heat and/ or cold, lift, move, carry 50-80 lbs several times a week. Good customer service skills. Ability to obtain certificate for forklift operations.

Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Level and type of experience
Demonstrated skill in operating vehicles such as forklifts, autos and trucks up to five tons in size. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to read simple blueprints and accurately fill out work orders. Ability to do heavy lifting. Basic knowledge of word processing such as Word or Word-perfect.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Commercial Drivers License. Training in the area of operating large vehicles in congested pedestrian area minimizing space usage in loading trucks and storage of furniture.
Conditions of Employment
Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
