The following position is available with the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.
Academic Coordinator
Counseling and Career Development Division
Provide expertise, consultation, and leadership in working with academic and career advisement. Serve as a liaison to stakeholders to strengthen career and technology education's educational options, advisement, advancement and attainment. Promote individual career and academic plans (ICAP) development within middle school, high school, technology center and postsecondary education guidance systems.
Requires a master's degree in guidance and counseling or an equivalent combination of bachelor's degree/experience in teaching, student advisement, student recruitment, and guidance. Requires 3-4 years' experience in career-tech education or school counseling.
Knowledge of comprehensive guidance program with an emphasis on career development stages and academic or career advisement. Experience in developing and implementing individual career plans with students. Familiarity with presentation software/equipment and Microsoft Office or comparable software. Knowledge of current high school graduation requirements, college entrance requirements, and Oklahoma's Promise requirements. Ability to manage multiple priorities, handle confidential and sensitive matters. Leadership skills and professionalism are essential.
Position based in Stillwater, OK. Local area, state, and out-of-state work/travel may be required. Requires valid driver's license.
Duties/Essential Functions:
•Provide technical assistance, professional development, resources and materials to implement a robust system of career and academic advisement.
•Provide technical support, develop collaborative partnerships, and compile resource materials to advance career and technology education transcript options, certifications, Advanced Placement (AP) and post-secondary credit options. Coordinate AP courses within the statewide instructional framework.
•Provide direction and leadership to internal staff and external stakeholders working with the broad areas of student support in regard to CTE options with college entrance requirements, high school graduation requirements, and Oklahoma's Promise requirements.
•Provide assistance and support for the implementation of guidance data components found within partner statewide initiatives (Oklahoma School Report Cards, industry certifications, OCAS coding, military initiative, Oklahoma Promise, etc.)
•Facilitate expanded awareness of best practices in the use of data for student advisement and achievement.
•Serve as liaison with Oklahoma State Regents of Higher Education and Oklahoma State Department of Education as well as other institutions/organizations on state career and technology education's academic options and advisement.
•Support and strengthen the continuing development and implementation of individual career and academic plans (ICAP) for career clusters and pathways. Provide technical assistance with OKCareerGuide.org for the online implementation of ICAP.
•Collaborate with internal and external partners to strengthen services to increase business-educational partnerships, career awareness and educational attainment statewide.
Salary/Benefits: $51,985.95 - $58,421.34 commensurate with education or experience. Total salary and benefits package valued at $64,192.17 - $71,111.95.
