Job Summary:
Leads data management and analysis team involved in querying, extracting, managing and analyzing multiple, complex datasets ensuring data integrity, quality, and timeliness of results. Oversees the deployment of reporting and analytical solutions. Serves on related committees and task forces.
The Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute Clinical Trials Unit (BCVI-CTU) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a centralized research unit dedicated to supporting investigators who are performing high-quality cardiovascular clinical research. BCVI-CTU is hiring a Senior Statistical Analyst in a collaborative role to work closely with clinical investigators on investigator initiated research projects.
Responsibilities will include collaboration with clinical investigators on the analysis of clinical trials and clinical, epidemiological, and basic science projects under the direction of Director of Statistics. Duties may include data management and statistical analysis; managing and analyzing multiple, complex datasets; analysis of clinical trial data; ensuring data integrity, quality, and timeliness of results; developing statistical analysis plans; and preparing statistical analysis reports using reproducible pipelines.
Specific Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
- Manages and plans for data/analysis requests and projects.
- Provides consultation to customers on appropriate data management, methodological issues and statistical analyses.
- Collaborates with technical staff explaining needs of functional users.
- Assist in development of data management and statistical analysis plans.
- Manages numerous projects
- Recommends project analysis milestones and timelines and ensure timely completion
- Designs and prepares documentation for data management and/or data analyses.
- Performs descriptive analyses for clients.
- Creates data tables and graphs.
- Writes reports for presentation and publication.
- Presents results at internal/external meetings.
- Maintains study databases; runs ad hoc queries and analyses.
- Cleans and organizes data in preparation for analyses.
- Prepares and edits data summaries on a weekly basis.
- Helps interpret results and write reports; prepares tables, figures, listings, and output files for publication and presentation.
- Manages research and analysis using several databases and/or data tables.
- Determines appropriate sources of data based on requests.
- Designs and writes programs for data entry, data editing, data management, periodic reporting, and quality control monitoring and statistical analyses.
- Prepares and analyzes reports/data
- Extracts required data.
- Determines and coordinates the completion of statistical analyses using appropriate applications.
- Develops well-documented code using best practices.
- Prepares structured and well-annotated statistical analysis reports for clinical trials and other research projects, and for meetings with collaborators.
- Learns new statistical methods as needed for projects.
- Develops and tests reports and analysis.
- Identifies and work with data stewards to resolve data conflicts
- Performs range, logic and consistency checks, reporting errors when necessary.
- Prepares analysis programs and reports to monitor data accrual and quality.

- Manages projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations.
- Provides work direction and/or supervises staff such as team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as biostatistics, statistics, public health (with a focus in biostatistics or epidemiology) or related with 6 years of data analysis/report writing or similar experience required; OR appropriate combination of education and experience; OR
- Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as biostatistics, statistics, public health (with a focus in biostatistics or epidemiology) or related with 4 years of data analysis/report writing or similar experience required; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
