JOB SUMMARY
This position performs technical duties in the installation, repair, and maintenance of refrigeration and HVAC systems.
MAJOR DUTIES
Installs, repairs and maintains HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
Maintains records of work performed.
Assists other personnel in the performance of repair and maintenance tasks as needed.
Maintains assigned tools and equipment.
Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of HVAC system installation, repair and maintenance.
Knowledge of relevant construction codes.
Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance of HVAC systems.
Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
Skill in diagnostic troubleshooting.
Skill in the operation of job-related tools, vehicles and equipment.
Skill in oral and written communication.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of related technical duties. The variety of equipment to be maintained contributes to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to install, repair and maintain university HVAC equipment. Success in this position results in safe and well-maintained buildings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
The work is typically performed in an office or stockroom, in a variety of university buildings, and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Annual salary $29,040.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
