Function of the Job:
Kirk Preschool teachers plan developmentally appropriate, Christian activities in connection with the prescribed curriculum. The teacher supervises the children in their care and responds throughout the day to the childrens needs for nurture, guidance and Christs love. The teacher works closely with the co-teacher to provide collaboration and direction to support the function of the classroom.
Terms of Employment:
This is a temporary position that begins June 18th & 19th with two days of preparation. Summer Camp runs June 20th through July 28th. The position is a part-time, hourly paid position. Possible employment into the 2022-2023 school year may be an option but is not required. The Kirk makes no promises of continued employment following July 28, 2022
Supervision:
Teachers work under the supervision of the On-site Director. Teachers are reviewed for quality of performance and compliance with the beliefs of the church and policies of the preschool.
Duties Performed:
Meets all physical and emotional needs of the children in the classroom
Creates and implements developmentally appropriate, individualized lesson plans for each child in their care
Keeps environment free of clutter and shares classroom with the childrens ministry department when the classroom is not in use by the preschool department
Uses developmentally appropriate guidance techniques that meet the needs of the whole child. Provides compassion and grace to each child in a way that matches with our beliefs as a mission of The Kirk
Complies with DHS regulations
Creates relationships with each parent in order to meet the needs of the whole child and to communicate important information
Attends devotions every morning to seek direction from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
Contributes as a part of the ministry team on a daily basis
A member of a local Christian church
A bachelors degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field
Able to lift 45 pounds
Able to sit on the floor for short periods of time to interact with children
Able to effectively communicate with children, co-workers and parents
Benefits:
Preschool-aged children of preschool teachers currently working at The Kirk Preschool may qualify for a 1/2 price preschool scholarship. This scholarship is only available during the days that the parent is working on-site and is based on the availability of the appropriate classroom.
