Director of Development and Community Partnerships    

Status: Full time, Exempt  

Reports to: President and CEO

Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000

Summary:

The Director of Development and Community Partnerships is a self-starter, connector, communicator, and resource developer who is team oriented and has a passion for supporting public education in Tulsa. Enjoys fundraising and working on multiple projects simultaneously. Understands the complexity of working with multiple stakeholders at the same time. Demonstrates exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills. Collaborates with Tulsa Public Schools staff, community partners, and Foundation staff to grow financial support and Partners in Education. This position is based in Tulsa.

Organization Background:

The Foundation for Tulsa Schools was founded in 2001 through a merger of the Tulsa Education Fund and Tulsa Public Schools Foundation. Our purpose is to support our students and educators at Tulsa Public Schools. We are proud of our history and have demonstrated innovation and collaboration in addressing challenges the district has faced. Throughout our history, we have seen evolution and growth and are proud to provide and support meaningful programs and initiatives to enrich the educational experiences of our students and provide support for our educators and district leaders.

Job Summary:

  • Direct and execute the board approved development plan including annual solicitations, sponsorships, and fundraising events.
  • Develop a clear fundraising strategy.
  • Generate high-quality proposals, narratives, applications, and supporting documents for grant requests, including collaboration with key Tulsa Public School leaders to create such requests.
  • Build strong relationships with Tulsa Public Schools district staff and external stakeholders to raise awareness of the case for support and to clarify giving opportunities.
  • Lead all Partner in Education strategies and programming.
  • Act as first point of contact for individuals and organizations interested in becoming a Partner in Education.
  • Support the Partners in Education and Book Series Committees for the Board of Directors
  • Serve as the liaison between school leaders and adopt-a-school partners
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective and current Partners in Education
  • Manage production of children’s book series: including artists, authors, budget, timeline, solicit sponsorships, and Tulsa vendor relationships
  • Identify prospective donors and outreach to build relationships in support of Tulsa Public Schools
  • Manage positive relationships with corporate, individual, and foundation donors
  • In conjunction with team, execute donor events including: ARTrageous Gala, Partners in Education Luncheon, Partners in Education appreciation and information events, and book launch events
  • Develop strategies for donor stewardship including thank you notes, impact reports, holiday gifts for major donors and social media highlights of impact.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a non-profit organization
  • Passion for public education and commitment to the mission of the Foundation for Tulsa Schools
  • Proven track record for cultivating relationships and securing funding commitments from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with DonorPerfect preferred.
