Foreman and Operator for Railroad Construction Crew

Job Summary
Responsible for laying and maintaining railroad track for railroad company customers and running equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Foreman Primary Responsibilities
Supervise the work of a crew of laborers, truck drivers, and equipment operators and others engaged in the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of railroads
Successfully complete the work activity on schedule and within budget
maintaining the highest quality of workmanship, while administering good construction safety practices for all job site activities
Administers, communicates, and promotes job site safety per company policy, encourages safe work practices, and rectifies job site hazards immediately
Coordinate the work activities of drivers, operators, and laborers
Instruct and train employees in the safe and proper operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques and skills for which they will be utilizing
Communicates clearly with the workers about each job, walking each through the scope of work, the materials needed to complete the job properly, and any other pertinent information
Regularly inspects worker's activity to make sure that the work meets or surpasses the customer's expectations
Holds a daily Toolbox meeting with the crew
Completes Time cards and approves such for payroll
Submits all required paperwork to the office by prescribed deadlines
Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees
Display tactful and mature demeanor and works well with diverse personalities


Operator Primary Responsibilities
Ensures that company safety standards are adhered to
Makes certain that equipment functions properly
Cleans, maintains, and makes basic repairs to equipment
Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor
Accepts other work assignment, such as manual labor
Daily checks fluids on equipment to be operated before starting and operating equipment
Daily greases equipment before starting and operating said machine
Fills fuel tank at the end of each day
